Sarah and I made it to the SplashDog open house tonight. It's a new doggy-only indoor therapy pool. The whole thing is way smaller than I thought it would be... their whole area was just one narrow section in a little old strip mall. There was pretty much just room for the pool which is about 8'x20' maybe? But it was nice... painted all cute with splashing waves all around the tops of the walls, and super cute pictures hanging on the walls.
They have 2 massage therapists that can swim with your dog. They were both licenced human massage therapists and then got the additional animal accreditation (is that the right word? I'm sick and I'm high.). One of them was in there when we got there doing a demo with her Italian Greyhound. She was all happy and floaty in the pool, it was so cute. I had Atlas in the car, so before we left I ran her inside to say hi... and the therapist that was doing the demo asked if I would mind if she tried to take Atlas in the pool. Atlas is a great swimmer, so she just wanted to get in and go go go... took her a bit to get the hang of the floating thing, but she did it I guess it's all stuff I've done with her in the water myself, but it was really nice to see her giving up control to someone that wasn't me... I think it cracks her little bully shell just a little hehehehe
Then they gave us a ton of free t-shirts, and pens... and hopefully we can send them enough referrals that they will give us BIG discounts on swim time. That's the only thing that SUCKS - for a swim with the therapist, $85/hr. If it's just you and your dog, $65. Freaking WAY too expensive, but the pool is nice and toasty warm... someone has to pay for it!
