I wanted to share a little story with you tonight.
Tonight I went to a Wake for a good Family Friend.
He and My Dad had been Good friends sence High school. ( I they were the same age.)
At one point during the wake they played a song.
"Butterfly Kisses"
I tried SO hard to NOT cry.
I tried so hard to keep what I was feeling inside.
But when the song came to...
She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride-room just staring at her.
She asked me what I'm thinking and I said "I'm not
sure-I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl."
She leaned over...gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there,
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk my down the aisle, Daddy-it's just about time."
"Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don't cry!"
I just couldnt help myself.
I begain to Cry. a LOT..
I was crying so hard that I had to get up and leave.
My mother and my sister, were crying as well because THEY knew that Sophia and I have Shared "Butterfly Kisses" Sence the day she was born.
and NOW I will not have as big a part in her life.
Which made the song hurt even MORE.
When I got home tonight I called Sophia and told her HOW MUCH DADDY LOVES her and Misses her.
She told me that SHE LOVED and MISSED me too.
When I hung up the phone.. I cryed again.....
But I remember
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer; sticking
little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you, Daddy, But if you
don't mind I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time."
With all that I've done wrong I must have done
something right to deserve her love every morning
and butterfly kisses at night.
If your a daddy.. you understand..... Daddy's.. PLEASE tonight.. Give your little girl Butterfly kisses.
Do it each and every night.
to show her you love her.
All my love to you..
My Sweet 'Phia
Daddys always there to give you
"BUTTERFLY KISSES"
Love to you all tonight.
Crym
I am sorry to hear about your dad's friend that song always makes my eyes well up.
