I've wanted to start an internet radio station for a long time (my own style of the Active Rock format). The biggest hurdle is the music license fees. It will cost $2276 for the first year just for the licenses. For a company, it's a drop in the bucket. But I'm doing this as a hobby. For me, that 7 car payments. I really don't want to deal with ads because if I make too much money, the licensing fees go up. Plus, it will be an internet stream to the whole world. I'm not even sure who'd advertise. I think I can find a streaming host that inserts commercials and give me a cut (kind of like YouTube). I really only need enough to cover the licensing fees each year. If anyone on SG reading this knows how to make money streaming, comment, please. I could use a few pointers.
In the meantime, I'll try to figure out how to make the money to get going. I'm in school full time so pulling tons of overtime at work can't happen until summer. If I did the math right, 10 hours of overtime a week over summer break would be enough. Maybe I could get this thing off the ground in the fall.
