Apparently my body doesn't like my usual amount of caffeine any more. It gave me premature ventricular contractions (PVC) tonight. Y'all can call them palpitations, which was something entirely new to me. Obviously Ive heard of them. I've just never had them. I always thought they were more like a fluttering. Anyway, I felt fine otherwise but it was something abnormal and decided to get checked out at the ER. The doctor told me to cut back on the caffeine. It never bothered me before but, I'm not 46 any more either. #gettingold
When I got home, I jumped on amazon and ordered a cardigan, loafers and a cane (the Biff Tannen fist cane from BTTF). This weekend, I'm looking forward to sitting out front and yelling at the kids to get off the lawn. But, I digress.
I do tell the staff I'm a nursing student. That way, when I start asking questions most people probably wouldn't ask, they know why. And it gives us something to talk about. I use these things as a learning experience and they have always been happy to explain things. The nurse assigned to me had had his degree (BSN) on his ID. I asked where he went to school and he said NIU. I said "ah, DeKalb." He was surprised that I knew it. I told him that an old friend and his wife both went there.
While I was in the room, I watched the monitor and it kept saying "frequent pvc." At the time, I didn't know what it meant, so I tried to figure it out. I came up with "pre ventricular contractions" and as it turns out, that was damn near on the money. Not long there after, the x-ray tech showed up. She was lovely. When she walked in, I sucked in my gut and man boobs. 😉👉 Hey there.
Now, it's time for bed. We have our first class tomorrow.
