working on a set of 9 paintings called 'ghost riders in the sky'. that's one of my favourite songs of all time. and SO many people have recorded it. some of my favourite versions:

but there's so many! i've found 15 different versions. it's a haunting song.

i mean, these ghost riders, they sound so cool. who wouldn't like to be a ghost riding a ghost horse through the sky? that would be brilliant! but then when you listen to the words, it's actually this bizarre cowboy purgatory where these dudes are forced to chase the devils herd of flaming cattle though the sky for all eternity, never able to catch the bastards. but even that somehow doesn't sound especially terrible. i can think of worse things to have to do than ride a horse through the clouds after death. so in this weird way, it's almost a sales pitch for hell.

i like that. it works right into the concept for my hallowe'en exhibition: 'hell ain't a bad place to be.'

thats actually another song. but i'll save that for another day.
