"You'll just have to find something else that gets you hot."
A hairdresser said that to me yesterday.
I use photo references for pretty much everything I draw. It's a lot of the reason I'm on SG, just for the random inspiration it can bring.
Friends of Conjure may recognise the second image. Thing is, the first girl is my dear friend Belinda, who gives me great, consistent images to work with. Problem being that now most of my female characters look like her.
Which lead me to be drinking wine and looking over Brisbane river with one of my bosses and his hairdressing friend, Aaron.
"You'll just have to find something else that gets you hot."
Immediately protested this, thinking that he meant I just wrote comics to live out sexual fantasies. He was pretty quick to explain.
"I do the same thing with girl's hair. Going through my portfolio it all looks like it could be the same girl. I make their hair look the way that I find appealing, which can get niche very quickly. Somebody eventually pointed out that I just had to keep my eyes open for other styles that I find attractive and figure out what it is about it that gets me. Broaden your horizons and all."
All of that makes sense to me and hopefully doesn't come across as creepy as it can initially sound.
So a bit of mind opening is in order. What have you got for me SG?

No, I don't believe in fate. But if you do, I can definitely get behind it.
Long, as in, shoulder length.
I just tried to find my flatmate to take photos of me, but he's nowhere. So I took a bunch of head shots. I'm going to email them to you, or load them onto my flickr if I can't ... no, I just found your email address. Stand by.
