Okay... where to begin... Well, last weekend, Sassie and I went to Centralia with a guy we knew from when he did some live shots of my band. His name is Daimon, and he has some pictures from Centralia already in books and what not. But I don't think he's done much in the way of models. So this was for experience for both him and my lady. While we were up there, I took some pictures too. Mostly of some of the graffiti people put all over the abandoned portion of highway Route 61 and a few of the empty lots and streets.
Unfortunately, it hadn't rained and it was very cold out. So the heat from the underground fire wasn't really creating a whole lot of steam or smoke. But we spotted an abandoned factory for a future shoot right outside the town (if you want to call it that). Also, it has perked interest in scoping out other ghost towns in PA.
So the other day, Sassie and I went to Borders and I picked up Pennsylvania Ghost Towns: Uncovering the Hidden Past. It has a bunch of places for us to check out. I also got (finally) The Walking Dead Book 3, it's such a good series. I'm excited to start reading it when I'm done with Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs. While I was there, I also picked up the new Meshuggah (so good), the new Phantom Planet (better than expected), and the new local turned minor success Century. Oh, I got the Day of the Dead straight to video remake. I have a feeling it's going to be terrible, but there's only one way to find out.
So in addition to all that, I got a few goodies in the mail. Deathwish Inc. sent me Killing the Dream's "Fractures" LP and the limited to 400 screenprint of Jacob Bannon's "Fractures" (artwork for said LP). From Vinyl Collective, I got Trap Them's Sleep Well Destructor, Murder By Death's "Red of Tooth and Claw", along with two MBD 7 inches.
So last night was the Summer Kick-Off event in Pittsburgh. Sassie and I picked up Seizure and drove 3.5 hours out there. It seemed to take forever, I have a rant that I'll have a little farther down on this. Anyway, we got there, spotted a Pita Pit that would later be closed, disappointing us all. But anyway, I met/talked to a few gals. Shotgun, Blondie, and Gidgette (in person, finally), to name a few in addition to Sassie (duh) and Seizure (duh again). NicoleLee did an excellent job, and she's quite the trooper. She put this shindig together and did a really good job. I met and spoke which her husband a little too, which was cool. I saw a few other SGs, Fraiya is the only one I can remember. Apparently Monroe was there too, but she left right away? There were a few hopefuls that the names escape me. I'm being told Courtney (sp?) and Megan (sp?) were their names. Also, another hopeful who was Gods Girl. Anyway...
After all the partying, and dealing with protecting my camera from random dudes shooting super soakers in the VIP room. We left around 1 or 2 AM. I was the DD so I was driving home. We didn't get lost or nothing. But usually the trip home doesn't feel to take as long as it does to get to the destination. Well, when you're tired as shit, it takes forever. It sucked. It took a RockStar Energy Drink and an Amped Energy Drink 20 minutes later to keep me up. I think we've decided to not do that again. Next time, we're staying overnight. It's too dangerous.
We got in around 5 and to bed around 5:30 AM. I woke up at like 8:30 or 9 AM and couldn't go back to sleep. The sun woke me up. We never got curtains for this apartment and today, I wish we would get some. Arg. So anyway, I slowly worked on this blog all day. Then Sassie and I got Neato Burrito. Now the lady is resting and I'm about to test out two used games I got in the mail yesterday, Lego Star Wars: the Complete Saga and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Woo!
Another thing that happened in the past week is that Sassie became Swollen Girl for Swollen Skateboards. I was the one who took the pictures, so I'm super excited to see something I've shot being posted somewhere that's not my MySpace or SG blog. Check them out here.
Also, don't forget to check out and comment on Sassie's latest member review set.
