Man, I need a new tattoo something fierce. No...wait...back that up abit. Man, I need money for a new tattoo something fierce.
At Waldenbooks, us employees have a special deal where we can check out a book for two weeks, so long as we take care of it and return it in "selling condition". Needless to say, I take advantage of that quite abit. Tonight's selection was "Better Living Through Death" by the creator of the HBO series Six Feet Under. I haven't seen but a handful of episodes of the show, but the ones I did see, I enjoyed. And so far, this book is a wonderful (and dare I sare, abit thought provoking) edition to what I know of the philosophies expressed in the series. There are some fair emotional pieces in it, from tear-jerkers to that sort of happiness you only get from the release of pain. Do I recommend it to people not a fan of the show? Yep.
And in other news, my bitching and complaining about having no creative outlets has forced me to pick up the graphite and ink again. Granted, none of you knew I used to love to draw, but now you know that I'm giving it another shot. Why'd I quit? Because I spent too much time comparing myself to every other artist in the world, and the defeatist in me told me to just give it up because I sucked. But I'm trying something different this time. Manga. I don't read much of it, but I've always liked that Manga/Anime style, so I got some books recommended by a friend, and sat down yesterday with the first lesson. It's interesting...and the results, given than this is my first time, weren't awful...I mean, they weren't great either, but you know...
Hmm...might be time for another change...
