If you hear the sound of teeth grinding, that would probably be me. It seems that Cockmast (otherwise known as Comcast), our beloved cable internet provider, is once again delivering the shoddy, second rate service that those of us stuck in their monopolized areas have come to know and love. We have no other option (yet) for high-speed internet service, which I'm fairly certain Cockmast is well aware of, and thus stick it to us poor folks whenever possible.
The network, it seems, speeds up and slows down at will. At first we thought perhaps there was an issue with EMF around the modem or routers, given that this apartment is chock full of new fangled electric things. After moving the modem and router to different locations, we're pretty sure it's not that. Checked all wires, swabbed and cleaned them, tried a different router...still, nothing but slow speeds. And in an apartment housing three computer dorks, it's sort of like receiving a kidney punch every half hour or so.
In other news, today is a drive-around-and-take-pictures day. My roommate obtained a digital SLR on a sort of "free trial basis" so we're going to make good use of it while it's in our posession. The quaint and likable city of Mt Clemens is our first stop, and if we have time, we'll head into downtown Detroit for some night shots on the river and a few neat little places that I know about.
