Frozen a moment in time the heart quickens.
Racing, beating loudly in her chest,
All around is spinning,
Gone is the girl, the child that was,
Inner woman emerges shying from beauty,
Leaving aside childish hopes and dreams,
Emerging slowly from her safe cocoon,
Inner struggle rages within, child and woman born,
Nothing will ever be the same again,
No one will see the change she feels inside,
Only she will mark this day as momentous,
Cautiously she turns her head from her reflection,
Entranced and disenchanted emotions mixed,
Nothing is clear,
Clear paths that lay ahead now fill with obstacles,
Each new dawn will challenge all has changed
