This was a very fun movie and it is almost solely because of Saoirse Ronan. She is absolutely delightful as the very earnest Police Constable Stalker. Sam Rockwell (Inspector Stoppard) is paired up with her to investigate the murder of a film director trying adapt Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap in1950s London. They play off each other wonderfully - each helping the other’s jokes to land.
The film is a whodunnit, which is a bit of a meta joke since The Mousetrap is practically the prototype for the whodunnit. As such it gets a little predictable in places, but not so much so that it diminishes the film as a whole.
