8/10
This is the third of the standalone MCU Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland and it picks up immediately after the end of the last film (Far From Home).
This film has a lot of cameos - A Lot. Depending on how many of the previous Spider-Man films you’ve watched over the years, some of them may be more impactful than others. There are quite a few callouts and fun scenes playing off these cameos and it’s actually impressive how well they’re integrated into the film. A poorer script would have thrown them in for the nostalgia factor and then let them fall by the wayside. Fortunately, this is a well written script and the actors came to work instead of cashing an easy check. Even the score was great.
Overall, there are a few really great scenes and more than once I got teary eyed. The ending felt genuine.
If you’ve been keeping up with the other movies and Disney+ shows then you’ll catch a few Easter eggs.
There is a mid-credits scene and a post credits scene. The mid-credits is fun. The post credits scene is really more of an extended trailer for Dr. Strange 2, so don’t stick around if you’re wanting to go in unspoiled to that film.
