did you know her all those years ago
when she was getting beat up and felt up by her daddy
did you see her when she went through her years screaming at all the people walking by
wanting them to understand why she was so tired
did you see her when she would cut deep wounds into her soul just to feel the emptiness seeping a little more
wanting it to spill out the dirty sheets that she had laid on for so long
do you watch her when the clouds build up in the sky
her eyes become faded and worn out
and the rain starts pouring down and she stands there waiting for it to wash her away
remember the first time you heard those sobs that tainted your consciousness
the sound you hear as you try to sleep and you know she's somewhere searching out a life that holds some kind of hope or at least some distance from the one that she has known
