So it's been an interesting two days. E chopped off the end of his nose 2 mornings ago. His mom called me as I was getting out of the shower asking me how he was. I almost screamed "What!? What's going on?" Of course she broke down into a mess after that so I threw clothes on and headed for the ER.
I got to the front desk and asked the nurse for some information about him and she shocked me by telling me to head down the hall to room 14. I was expecting some kind of resistance.
He was on a table in the Exam room with a cloth over his face having the tip of his nose sewn back on. TALKING AND JOKING WITH THE SURGEON! Who was a nervous little dude. He turned down pain killers and anesthesia and had just had the area numbed a bit.
He apparently didn't want me to know until it was over which pissed me off but, I got over it when I saw his face covered in blood.
He was at work when it happened and was handing a sheet of masonite (which is like the stuff they make blackboards out of now) up to a guy above him in a lift. It slipped out of the guys hand as it got to the highest point and bumped the proscenium and came straight down.
Luckily it only got the tip and a tiny bit of cartilage. It could have been alot worse if he wasn't in that exact spot.
The ER doc puts so many stitches I don't think he even kept count I'd say at least 30. Then we went to the big hospital yesterday to have a plastic surgeon look at it at the ER docs recommendation to make sure it would be ok. He did a great job so that was the end of the surgeries for now.
I've been helping him clean it and bandage it which is kinda gross but, quite interesting as well. He went right back to work today because he's crazy. He's also going to have an awesome scar right across the end of his nose which will be pretty badass.
