So, I just ate some Focacci bread from Meijers and it was the shit...mmmmm
What's been going on in my life? Lots of stuff. Lets start at my last post. The Planned Parenthood article went through and I got some good feedback on it. They love what I am doing now, a story on racial profiling at the local club. For those of you familiar with Mt. P, the Wayside is the place for all the skanky CMU girls to go on thursday, friday and saturday. They have a dress code that includes no sweatpants and no baggy pants. Apparently, the bouncer/manager (both white) have been turning down black males because their pants are too baggy, but letting in white guys with pants as baggy or baggier. If that doesnt sound like racial profiling or straight up racism....I don't know what does.
Saw my family over break....it was alright....family is family.
Onto music! Right now my favorite is the John Butler Trio. The lead vocalist/guitarist is so badass that he doesnt use a guitar pick. Infact, according to the website,
"The reason for this is because of his unique picking style on the guitar. Rather than using a guitar pick he uses each of his fingers to pick the strings when he plays which can result in a more complex and faster style. John uses synthetic nails and also a strong nail hardener to build up and keep the nails on that hand hard enough to be able make a clean picking sound that simulates folk finger picks that other artists will wear on each finger to produce a similar picking style."
Badass....they use everything from congas to a hammon organ to tambourines. Check out the track Company Sin....good stuff. Did I mention he/they are Australian?
My roommate is flying to LA today (no you can't see him....you know who I am talking to) for his grandpas funeral....but the big thing is he is staying with his mother for the week. His mother who he hasn't seen in 3 years....the mother that he literally fled across the country to get away from (Cali to michigan)...should be interesting.
Sorry for such an earful...I'll try and update regularly, if anyone cares.

Man thats shit about that club i hope your artical is successful i fuckin HATE places like that. I was juat down on midland for a few days over brake and was reminded about how weird that section of michigan is I think we have more diverse races up here in marquette then all of midland
