The thesis is moving along somewhere, a Levy flight for sure. Lately I've re-written all of my Markov Chain organ mutation models in continuous-time so I can bring the full machinery of theories of how to solve ordinary differential equations to the table. My advisor thinks I'm almost on to something worth keeping in my thesis. That is probably a good thing. Right now I'm using (as of yesterday!) Laplace transforms to try and solve my latest model. It's a linear system of 3 ODEs so it shouldn't be that bad, right?

LOL! Yeah it's weird, I work in an evolutionary biology lab that only does mathematical models. But basically, I'm trying to figure out why one set of our organs lasts a really long time (brain, heart, bones) but another starts getting crappy when we are in our 20s-30s!
