So I'm getting a new tattoo. Or rather, I am having one expanded into a halfsleeve.
I have a thing for pirates. Yes, I'm fully aware that most pirates were total sociopaths who raped, pillaged and looted their way into today's historybooks. It's the romanticized view of them that I dig.
The jolly roger on my upper left arm is feeling lonely and I figure it needs some company. Who better to join him on my skin than the dread lord Cthulhu, international star of horror stories, roleplaying games, videogames and even movies?
The Dreamer of R'lyeh, the thing that should not be (cue Metallica), the green octopus guy, will be emerging from a rich sumptuous dark blue whirlpool centered on the outside of my elbow and wrapping his tentacles around the pirate flag, trying to drag it down into the depths.
In the swirling water surrounding the flag will be subtle imagery like the Elder Sign and the sign of the King in Yellow. Of course, there'll be some piratey imagery as well, with ball-and-powder pistols and skulls.
And to cap it off, it will have a banner reading:
"That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die."
I'a I'a Cthulhu F'thagn etc.
Mr. Lovecraft should be pleased with this one.
