Waffle House always has a way of giving me the reality check that I need. I was sitting in my local Waffle House at ten o'clock on VD, when my waitress came over to take my order. She said, "How you doin'?", which is a question I always answer honestly. If you don't want to know, don't ask My response was something along the lines of "I hate manufactured holidays that make me feel lonely..." She gave me this semi-incredulous look, and said, "Well, if it makes you feel any better, I got my VD call from my boyfriend in jail." Then she refilled my coffee. I can be a real jerk sometimes.
