So. One of the greatest things that will ever happen to me begins June 30th. IrishWhiskey will be getting into my mini van/fighter jet ( ) and I will drive her to my house to stay for 2 weeks, AND she will be here on my birthday (July 13th)... who could ask for more.
I Just hope that she can handle my weird ass schedule, my nurses, etc.. my life is sort of different than what everyone sees on cam in the chat room.
So I guess I will try and paint a picture so she knows and so you guys know..maybe you will care maybe you won't.
My "normal" day starts at 10am
-the nurse gets to my house and enters the code to get in my garage door and comes down into the basement
-she then either wakes me up or I tell them to wake me up at 11.. depends on how I am feeling
Once I am awake the nurse has to get me dressed. completely. yep. underwear, socks, pants, shoes. Once I am fully dressed I start range of motion..not everyday, but I do like to do it as often as possible. After all of that I have to have a sling put under me that is used in junction with a hand cranked lift (It looks very similar to a motor puller). Once the sling is chained to the lift she has to crank it and maneuver me in a way so that the lift will have me positioned to be cranked down into the seat. Once I am in the seat I have to be situated so I have the nurse pull me up with either the sling or my pants so I don't look like I am slouching too much. Then I decide what shirt I want to wear.. she helps me get that on. I finish the morning off by eating breakfast and then bushing my teeth. This all takes probably half hour to an hour depending on some variables.
If my day goes good I am sitting in my chair until ~12 or 1am.
If my day does not go good I may have to call a nurse back and do most of that over again. This is rare though and I hope it stays that way.
Going to bed is really simple on my normal days. I basically just reverse the process.. hook the sling up to the lift.. get put in bed, clothes off, need my remotes and phones, and my catheters and I am set. Takes like 10mins. OR I could stay up in my chair all night but that is literally a pain in the ass... but I can handle it if it's worth it.
NOW that's a "normal" day.
On a "shower" day, the morning is regular, but at night I have to be ready around 11:30 or 12pm AND I CAN NOT AND HAVE NOT skipped this in 12YEARS. This night is not just a shower (which incidentally I love lol), but it also involves things that are necessary for everyone. Basically it starts off as a regular night but I have to get back up into a shower chair, naked.. but with the sling and a towel on, then rolled into the shower. I have her turn on the mini black and white TV in there, and then she has to use..well lets just say this sucks... anyway I basically deal with that, brush my teeth, wash myself, and then go get back into bed. THIS ONLY HAPPENS EVERY OTHER NIGHT.
It's not terrible, and after 12years it is just something that I am use to, but I just though I would let everyone in on my hidden stuff.
OH and today while stretching my legs, my nurse that when I -tried- pushing my leg she said it was putting pressure on her.. ...wait.. so my leg was trying to work.. wow. So that was interesting.
