Take a moment to get caught up by reading the article published here:
First and foremost, the fact remains that a man killed his wife, and then his seven-year-old son in a brutal manner. Details of which aren't particularly necessary, not for the sake of his reputation, but for the memory of the mother and child. All of my sympathy goes out to the relatives and friends, as I cannot argue that this will be a very hard time for them.
Secondly, before this occurred, Benoit was a highly respected WWE wrestler, as well as a member of the professional wrestling world. He was, truly, one of the last wrestlers out there to stay close to "old-school" wrestling, something that many professionals today are sliding further and further away from. There is no questioning his reputation, nor in the amount of reverence that lay upon him prior to this event.
I personally feel that the WWE's quick attempt to nip "'roid rage" chatter in the butt was sad, to say the least. Regardless of the cause, the effect still occurred, and heavens forbid it make the company itself look bad. Even if in the supposed unlikelihood that the toxicology reports come back positive, any reasonable, intelligent person would realize that WWE had not and would not promote Benoit to frequent his use of steroids. Yes, it is stereotypical to think of wrestlers taking steroids, as we've seen proof of such in the past, [*cough* Chyna Doll.] but I truly feel like covering the company's ass is tasteless in the aftermath of the situation.
And finally, I think that too much is being put into the fact that he was famous. This would have made headlines, regardless of the fact, but the big picture is being missed simply because more than a handful of people knew his name before it happened. Three people are dead, this murder-suicide contained the deaths of a mother, and her seven-year-old son. The rest of you can continue to bicker over professional wrestling's integrity, I'm going to devote my time to better things, such as sending my condolences to the remaining family.
xCrash.
Take your mannerisms back! There yours not some stupid boys.
No I did like the ending, I love how in stories like that you just have an ending that suits it, happy or not, and that ended definitely suited it.
♥
it's incredible how fucked up that whole story is.
and you're right. that's the way life and corporations go. COVER THEIR ASSES FIRST. but that's.... really the way it works. and it makes sense. it's just sad and seems kinda senseless sometimes.
