I went to see Kasabian live. I paid a lot of money for those tickets.
They were shit.
I went in only really knowing two songs, which I quite liked. They were catchy enough and I was expecting the rest of their stuff to be the same.
To be honest, I cant really judge the rest of their stuff properly because I couldn't make it out. There was so much distortion that any sort of riff or melody or tune was completely lost. The only way I could tell songs apart was when they stopped for a minute and then the drums started differently. Im a stoner rock fan, I LIKE distortion, but I dont like the band to sound like a badly tuned TV all the way through a near two hour gig.
It didn't help that their singer is awful. Not the guitarist who actually sings, Im talking about the guy who just jumps around on the stage shouting "BLURGH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAHBLAHBALHBLEY BLEHEY WAAYYY WEEEEYYYYHH WAHAYY C'MON CARDIFF YARGH WAYYY HURRRR" constantly.
It also didn't help that the crowd seemed to be mostly made up of middle aged, fat, bald men in sports jackets who just wanted to headbutt, hug, jump at and bum each other in the most aggressively heterosexual way and as close to me as physically possible without opening my shirt and huddling inside with a torch and a book of ghost stories.
The support band sucked as well. The fucking Fratelli's. Yes these guys are exactly what the British music scene needs, more recycling of the same stuff that its been producing since 2001, which mostly involves the singer shouting "DOODOODOODLY-DOO!" over and over, bouncing his stupid afro around to a riff essentially stolen from any White Stripes album before Get Behind Me Satan (you know, one of the two good ones) as loud as he can so the crowd can also shout along and elbow me in the face.
And 3.50 for a Grolsch? What the hell is that? I pay less than that for a Hoegaarden which is much nicer and a lot stronger.
The only good thing was the lighting.

British music needs more handclaps. I swear.
