I'm not sure what they hate about it, exactly. The only straight answers I've gotten are "there's nothing to do" and "it's too liberal".

I'm not sure if I think that's true. I like it because I'm not a party animal, so for me there is more than enough "to do". And I could care less if it's "too liberal", the point for me is that I can walk down the street at night without worrying about being shot at. biggrin

Accidentally drank too much wine and then whisky last night. (I think I kissed my friend's wife, no, wait, she kissed me. Oops anyway. Good thing we've all got a sense of humor.) Nursed my hangover at Le Grande Orange all morning, then got a ride out to pick up my car. No real work will be done today. And to think, it all started...

Hello to the blender suspender.

To the sexily-clad doll, "Hey there."

You know how . . . um . . . No, wait, there's no way you could know.

The iTunes radio station Boot Liquor really kicks ass. I will listen to it forever.

It's looking like rain. Mean rain.

I'm addicted to printmaking, I wish I had a press. I like linoleum the best, I also like monotype. I've never done woodblock but I think it looks neat. I don't think I'd like etching though. I'm going to save up for my own press. They cost a shitload though!

Checking out the Huntington Library tomorrow. I hear it's just great. And, even if it's not so great, this visit will help me achieve my lifetime goal of laughing in the vicinity of every surviving copy of the Gutenberg Bible. Fun stuff.

Back to Phoenix soon - the long drive through the Mojave, singing all the way.

Eat my dust . . . er ....

february has to be better than january. it just has to be!
you mentioned cuban food in my journal.... that sounds really good right now. i guess good food in general sounds good, though.

i love those kinds of days that you're just glad to be alive. i'm such a pessimist that it feels like it's been forever since i've had one of those.

I'll be up late, late, late tonight and on into the morning. The second Mars Exploration Rover "Opportunity" is finally leaving its nest and egressing onto the crater floor.

It's funny to watch NASA sell the Egress. It reminds me of another egress story. PT Barnum had a sign in his museum that read - in just as fancy and big a way as any...

Arizonans: Check out the closing reception of Textology at the Tempe Public Library on Feb 11 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

(Check out the invitation under pics.)

It should be fun. And, if it's not, there's still plenty of time to go out afterward.

Just wait until you see the color Pancam images of the Opportunity landing site. They'll be public around 9:00 am.

Now I'm just drinking Bourbon highballs and watching Cartoon Network. Really highbrow stuff for a guy like me.

I just came back from the 2:00 am press briefing at NASA JPL. So happy to see that this time one of the two rovers landed in a place that's absolutely unique compared to what we've already seen. Bedrock!!! Am I a nerd? Probably. But look where I went with all my scientific enthusiasm - straight to SG.

what up fellow phoenician?
alienprincess:
Hey, welcome.
the usage definition of being a nerd/geek seems to be: a. knowing a lot of detail about any given subject, to a degree beyond the mainstream, b. having more enthusiasm for any given subject, since showing interest is definately not cool.

So if you care about anything enough to know alot about it, you're a geek or a nerd. Life's too short not to give a shit.

and god help you if you have an affinity for big words, or worse, numbers.
