Dad
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Well, this was one hell of a weekend. Dad was supposed to go in last Thursday for a small outpatient procedure to put a feeding tube into his stomach, so he'd still be able to get calories and nutrients when not hungry. The doctor who was supposed to do the surgery was also supposed to have a radiologist as his backup person. But the radiologist was out of town for a funeral. So the surgeon decided to give it a try anyway. He filled Dad's stomach with gas and attempted to put a tube down his throat to work from that end. But, remember, his tumor is in his esophagus, which kinda blocks that procedure. This left dad with a stomach full of gas and pain that needed morphine to keep it under control. On Saturday, they did put in the chemo valve/pump/whatever in his chest, which was the outpatient procedure he was supposed to have on Monday. Finally, on Monday, they got the radiologist in, and did the feeding tube surgery, then kept him in the hospital ANOTHER night. On Tuesday, they took him (by ambulance) the 1/3 of a block to the cancer center, started his long-day Chemo, brought him back by ambulance again, put more fluid in him, and let him check out at about 7:00 PM.
So, lets recap:
2 outpatient procedures turned into 5 days in the hospital. Oh, and just for fun, Dad is currently in the Medicare donut hole. Fun.
He's home now, and today is taking his 3rd dose of radiation. He has a Chemo pump until Saturday night, when he has to go into the ER to have it removed, because they started his treatment a day late, and clinics don't do weekends.
Oh, and just for fun, the treatments are supposed to start making him sick tomorrow or the next day.
Fuck cancer. Fuck it in the ass. No lube.
My Job
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I am so fucking sick of this job. I have no idea what I am going to do next. I just want out of this go-nowhere crap. But I did have the fun of telling my classes yesterday why I might be running out of the room sometime during class. And why I may snap at them over the next several weeks.
My Sex Life
Thanks for the encouragement. It means a lot.
After reading your blog I gotta say I'm not looking forward to chemo. Had my first session today.
If I recall correctly, they took your Dad's feeding tube out? I assume that's good?
Either way, I hope his recovery continues to go well.
