I am getting so tired of waiting. July 15th (Leave for MFA Residency) can't come fast enough. I have a few things between now and them, but I'm really not looking forward to them. I'll be going to the regional pool tournament during the first weekend in June, with the whole drama crowd, and I am not looking forward to it. At least this year I was smart enough to book my own single, private, away from everybody else room for the overnight.
In happier news, this weekend, I'm holding a garage sale of mostly other people's stuff. My place is centrally located, so my parents and some other relatives are bringing their stuff here to sell. By my rules, everything gets cheaper the longer a buyer stands there holding it or the later in the day it is. You like that book for a dollar? Well, give me 50 cents and take another one for free. Just get them out of here.
I am well on my way to being possessionless by choice, it seems. In 2 years (approx) I will have to move away from here because there is simply no place for my degree at this university. My MFA will be in fiction writing, specifically novels. The university where I now work has exactly one (1) undergraduate fiction class and one (1) graduate fiction class. It is pathetic, particularly since I know there is a waiting list to get into those classes every year.
I hope to head to the NorthWest. Time will tell if I get to go.
