Hello everyone! First up a big huge rainbow hug to my friends in the US for legalising MARRIAGE EQUALITY in all states! I'm so happy for you all! This issue is a really important one to me and I am overjoyed to see things slowly turning around. Unfortunately, this leaves my home (Australia) as the ONLY industrialised, English-speaking country NOT to have marriage equality. Boo. We're now the country that the homophobes and bigots say they will move to. The same country that is home to the Sydney Mardi Gras, the same country that touts itself as a progressive, first-world country. It's embarrassing and we deserve better. Hopefully someday soon the laws will change. Currently in Australia every marriage celebrant is REQUIRED to say the following words during marriage ceremonies... “Marriage, according to law in Australia, is the union of a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life”. GROSS, right? That's in our fucking MARRIAGE ACT. It makes me ashamed of my lawmakers and my representatives. But it doesn't make me ashamed to be Australian because over 70% of people in Australia WANT marriage equality. Our representatives are just out of touch and it's bad. It's so bad.
And to the dude sitting there reading this that doesn't think we should have marriage equality, please... odds are you look at multi sets on here. Ladies getting naked and kissing each other. You're a hypocrite if you think it's okay to enjoy lesbians on SG but you don't think they should be able to get married. Just. Think.
I'll close off this rant with a picture from the Retro Equality Project that I participated in a while back. It's NOT a real wedding photo, it's for a shoot (you wouldn't believe the number of people who have posted 'congratulations' over on Instagram and Twitter after seeing this image haha). The Retro Equality Project advocates for LGBT+ awareness and marriage equality here in Australia and the organisers even marched in the Mardi Gras Parade in Sydney! So here's me and Lady Medusa getting 'married'. We still call each other 'wifey' to this day. <3
On to SG stuff!
Two more sets have come out from the Sydney Shootfest that you have GOT to check out!
The first is @opheliah in her set Open Letter:
I still don't get why this lady isn't pink. LOOK AT HER! And she has so many beautiful sets out too, it's nuts! Hopefully this one will be the one. So go give it some love and enjoy!
The second set is @Lucian in her set New Girl:
She is such a cutie. This is her first ever photoset and she did a great job! I am so happy when we get newbies into our little SG family, especially when @exkyu and I get to shoot them first up haha.
Also, if you missed my last blog you still need to check out @aubrey's new set Eames (which is SMASHING it, just quietly) and @sunflower's new set Indigo. Those two are some of @exkyu's best work and you do NOT want to miss them! And go ahead and follow @electra too because she has a new set by us coming out in a few hours!
Until next time. xx
