Hey guys!! So I'm absolutely loving my new tattoo. I thought having ink on my arm would be a bit of a transition (I'm no stranger to the WHAT HAVE I DONE feeling, definitely got a bit of that in the weeks after my first ever tattoo) but this time it's been love love love. I was actually out at the markets picking up groceries and the checkout chick was staaaaring at my arm and I had to remind myself why. I suppose I'll get used to that over time.
Here's a picture of the outlining all done.
My arm is super swollen in that pic because it's right after my artist was done. It's the goddess Athena in art nouveau style. Still have to decide what colours everything will be. Probably a lot of blues and purples and a splash of red and bronze. I may have already shown you guys this pic, but I am so excited and happy that I'm showing you again!
Also, if you want to see some BOMB ASS photography, go check out @pebblezink 's new photoset by @exkyu . I am blown away with just how GOOD it is.
It's called Splash! because splashes happened a lot.
I also wanted to quickly shout out @nekophilliac 's new set Miss Marceline's Picnic and @felis_ 's new set Cotton Candy. Both definitely definitely worth checking out! I've got a few comments over the last few blogs of folks thanking me for my recommendations so that's gratifying. I am glad you've enjoyed!!
Life goes on in this city. I'm back to my daily routine of architecture by day and writing in the evenings. I actually followed a bunch of literary agents over on my Twitter so that I can keep abreast of that side of the industry. I have loads more work to do before I am ready to submit anything to any agents/publishers, but I like to be prepared. I also discovered a great Australian podcast about writing called So You Want to be a Writer. I'm enjoying listening to it, amazing for motivation. I want to spend the rest of today writing, actually.
I spent yesterday visiting a display village of project homes. Mostly spent my time making fun of a lot of strange design ideas, but some stuff was quite useful and interesting. I'm really glad I went. It's good to see what other designers are into. I think I might like to slowly move into doing project home designs so I can have a base of income to support my other custom work.
It was also Earth Hour last night. Earth Hour actually started out in Sydney. As a greenie who originally came from Sydney I feel obligated to observe it every year. And every year I have a bit of a grump about it before I turn off the lights and every year I LOVE THE CRAP OUT OF IT. There is something so nice about varying up routine, even if it's something as small as going for a walk or having dinner by candle light. I actually ended up spending more than an hour with the lights off which I tend to do every year once I remember how fun Earth Hour can be.
I also watched the movie 'Her' last night. It was really really good, I enjoyed it so much. It won the Oscar this year for writing and it's fairly clear to see why. If you're going to watch it, be warned that it's pretty explicit. So don't watch with kids or parents!
I discovered this amazing album today. This guy called James Richards claims that he went to an alternate universe where the Beatles never broke up. In order to prove it, he brought back a tape called 'Everyday Chemistry'. It's clearly just an album of mashups from their solo careers after they broke up, but the music is actually really really good. Have a listen:
I think that's all I've got to tell you today. My sister's account @mouse__ is now active. Some people seem to think I'm saying "my sister" figuratively. I'm not. SHE IS LITERALLY MY BIOLOGICAL SISTER. Go say hi. Also, only a couple of weeks til my multi with @christina comes out. I hope you're excited!!
