This was originally an answer I posted in severus's journal . . . . but I thought it would make interesting reading, so I used it here as well.
"The Beatles . . . unfortunately, I'm aging myself with this one . . . but in my own defense - look around at all the old rock 'n roll guys still at it . . . Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Foreigner, Journey, BB King, Santana, etc. etc. . . . all still going strong . . . . me too!
O.K. . . I went to see the Beatles, at Shea Stadium in New York City, in the summer of 1967. My cousin won 5 tickets in a contest, but wasn't old enough to drive. So she invited my brother and his wife, me, and another cousin. The place was absolutely packed . . . . girls everywhere screaming their hearts out the whole time. Some warm up acts came out and played first . . . Bobby Head sang his then hit - Sonny . . . . The Circle did their hit - Red Rubber Ball . . . . periodically some dude would jump onto the field, and the cops would chase him around, while the crowd screamed! The Beatles finally came out of a dugout . . . the stage was set up on the pitcher's mound. When they played . . . . the whole place was on its feet! I could clearly see John Lennon's face all sweaty and red from the heat. We could see all their faces clearly. They were FUCKING GREAT! I was very pleased to be there, for what surely became a piece of history!"
