I recently read something on this site, that gave me pause to think. There is an ecclectic demographic to this site's population, to be sure. However, if you eliminate the gawkers and voyeurs - those who come here day after day for titilation . . . . the residual community, provides an interesting study of human behavior . . . . one worthy of an anthropologists consideration.
The underlying collective, that we give ourselves to, enjoys a certain number of common characteristics or traits. It becomes clear, that all of us, in varying degrees, are here to fulfill basic needs, which, whether we like to admit it or not, are not being fulfilled in our daily lives. This comprises needs for attention, friendship, support, validation, humor . . . . . . It seems that many of us feel the need to express our opinions, theories, and ideas, in the hope of convincing others that our thoughts, and maybe we ourselves, have value . . . or that perhaps we are capable of creating humor . . . or of winning debates, or even something as simple as being able to help each other over the rough spots - just lending a kind ear to someone who needs it right now. Perhaps its sending someone a little gift or care package, because we feel the need to reach out to each other, and bring some good to each others lives, if indeed, we are able. So, it seems, . . . those of us who intentionally or even inadvertantly support the continuing success of this site, aren't at all an accidental assemblage of sex-crazed, tattooed, musicians, models, extroverts and introverts . . . . but maybe, just maybe, we are, each and every one of us, individuals of significant value, who choose to give of ourselves, not only for our own fulfillment, but also for that of others.
