Well . . . . . that was fun! After spending two full days securing the house . . . in the absence of specific info regarding the possibility of storm serge and flooding, we bailed out, and went to my office in Palm Beach Gardens. Stayed there Friday night, Saturday and Saturday night, and finally left on Sunday morning while it was still blowing. Couldn't take it any more. We hadn't planned on being there so long . . . so we had to sleep two nights on the hard floor. The building lost power Saturday night . . . the storm raged like hell, but at least those of us here were safe. The house came through with minor damage. We were without power until Tuesday night. Sure felt good to take a shower this morning, before I came in to work. We had to throw out all the contents of our refrigerator and both freezers . . . . what a waste. It was very hot yesterday . . . I don't know which was worse - the lack of A/C . . . or the total lack of anything cold to drink. We have a "boil order" on our water for now . . . but at least we have water . . . lots of people don't have water or electricity, or gasoline. Soooo . . . its gonna be a while before things are normal . . . but its getting better.
The appearance of things has certainly been changed in the area. Bottom line . . . we were all very fortunate this wasn't a category 4 storm. As long as it sat on us . . . there wouldn't be anything left.
