I've got a lot of time on my hands over spring break, so heres a poem that came out from me. I had a line I couldn't smush anywhere, so it became the title.
Telling yourself you're not dead is easy, believing it is the hard part.
I am alive
Not because I fear
Not because I hate
Not because I love
Not because I replicate
Not because I have
Not because I want
Not because I will
Not because I wont
I am alive
Because I can see
That there is a world beyond me
I am alive
Not because of flowers
Not because of trees
Not because of animals
Not because of these
Not because of war
Not because of death
Not because of god
Not because of breath
I am alive
Because I have hope
That Im not at the end of my rope
I am alive
Not because I trust
Not because I believe
Not because I lust
Not because I perceive
I am alive
Because of truth
Because I know it without proof
Telling yourself you're not dead is easy, believing it is the hard part.
I am alive
Not because I fear
Not because I hate
Not because I love
Not because I replicate
Not because I have
Not because I want
Not because I will
Not because I wont
I am alive
Because I can see
That there is a world beyond me
I am alive
Not because of flowers
Not because of trees
Not because of animals
Not because of these
Not because of war
Not because of death
Not because of god
Not because of breath
I am alive
Because I have hope
That Im not at the end of my rope
I am alive
Not because I trust
Not because I believe
Not because I lust
Not because I perceive
I am alive
Because of truth
Because I know it without proof
