Fall! My favorite of the seasons, for so many reasons. I look forward to way too much during the fall.
Firstly, since I live in the midwest, this is the best time of year climate wise. Our winters are much too cold and white for my liking, the spring is far too dreary and rainy and our summers can get far too hot, not to mention that I'm in the middle of tornado alley, so that's no fun for me. Fall is such a nice in between. Sure, it's been 90 degrees the past three days, but typically, it's sweater weather. Fall is also the prettiest season in Illinois in my opinion. I always look forward to seeing the leaves change color.
Another favorite thing of mine, is the pumpkin patch opening up for season. It's one of my favorite places, hands down. Every year, it's decorated differently and I'm always so excited to see how it has been set up. I love being able to take a day out of my busy schedule and dedicate it to a trip there. There's nothing better than stuffing your face full of pumpkin cinnamon rolls, pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting and warm apple cider or getting lost in the corn maze, laughing with your friends and taking endless stupid pictures. (as pictured below) I love ending my day with picking out the perfect pumpkin to carve.
Which brings me to pumpkin carving. I've only done it once thus far, because my friend was baffled that I had never done it as a child, but it was so much fun. They didn't turn out the best, (as pictured below) but the pumpkin seeds we baked we so delicious and I lived off of those for like, a week. I'll admit that I'm that white girl who loves pumpkin anything though. Pumpkin chai, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin ale. That's who I am, and not just in fall, but all year around.
Another favorite thing of mine is...CANDY. Let's be real, I could live off of candy alone. I don't know why I have such a sweet tooth, but I always have. I look forward to candy corn pumpkins every year, and I will literally buy five or more bags. I have been trying to watch what I eat a little more recently and it's killing me inside. Still didn't stop me from buying the trick or treat sized bags of chocolate covered pretzels though. I'm not that strong, haha.
Last, but not least, I look forward to dressing up and Halloween in general! I'm not the girl that chooses the sexiest costume, but I just like getting to be something or someone that I'm not for the night. I typically go for group costumes, because I absolutely adore my closer friends. Last year, my two best friends and I were The Lonely Island and it was hysterical. We played the Turtleneck and Chain version of them and recreated their album cover. My Halloween parties are also something I look forward to, they're always the best and I love being able to spend my favorite holiday with my favorite people. I just absolutely love Halloween.
