The Date, Take 1.
This is a continuation of 'girl who called me 34 with a receding hairline,' only it's not so much of a date as it is what like to call 'How to Not Make a Good First Impression with Lucas.'
So plan is to meet her at 6:30 for dinner. Unfortunately, she has something come up and says she'll call when she's free. Okay, these things happen.
She calls at 7:30 and I start driving after we agree that a late dinner still sounds good. I call her 20 minutes away to confirm her address (it's an hour drive); all good. I call her when I get to her apartment to get her buzzer number. However, she is no longer there. She wasn't sure I was coming, she says, so she went out to hang out with her friend...
Uh. Okay. Guess I'll hang out with the parking lot. Kind of a bummer.
She turns around to come meet me and we're off to hang out with her friends. Not what I had in mind, but cool.
She's a really sweet girl and very attractive. But it made me sad to see her keep putting herself down - all these 'I'm sorry I didn't brush my hair today' and 'my eating schedule has been all outta whack' and 'I didn't dress up today...' Man it's so not a big deal. Like I say, she's attractive even with unbrushed hair and all that.
So we get to her friends' place and everything's good. I would have prefered to have been able to talk to my date some more, but she was pretty occupied with her friend and trying to figure out her living situation. She's moving in August and was a little anxious about the whole thing. Understandable.
I'm very hungry by now - being a growing boy and not having had dinner. Of course, she didn't know I was coming and so ate already; and I just wasn't comfortable asking if she still wanted to go for dinner and watch me eat.
Alas, after about an hour, she gets a call from her friend wondering where she is - this friend was going to color her hair as a favour-slash-practive run for estheticianary school, so we call it a night.
All in all, not my best date ever.
