There are a few things in my life that I positively adore. Nick Cave's 'no more shall we part,' Signal to noise by Gaiman and Mckean, and, as of tonight, Six Feet Under has established itself into the Lucas Hall of Fame.
How is it that that show can be so fucking amazing and incredible and intense and painful and beautiful all at the same time?
The episodes where the whole family gets together, those are my favourites. Season 5 episode 4 'Time Flies' is such a perfect episode; I feel so inspired right now. If someone can write something that amazing, maybe there's hope for me yet. Maybe if I work at it I'll be able to do something a tenth as magnificent. Or maybe more; I don't know. But right now there are ideas coming to light in my head, melodies strung together by spider threads, rhythms establishing themselves.
Yes. Tonight is a night to write something worthwhile. I'll let you know how it goes.
