So today I led an awesome discussion in class. I read parts of "The House on Mango Street" and talked a little about my stance on teaching - how I believe it's mainly about relationships and how important it is to for students to have a personal connection to what they're learning. Then I went to Amundsen High School and observed three English classes there. I am so fucking psyched to be doing this. I can't wait to be a teacher.
Tonight I'm going to Delilah's for Punk night and then to Green Dolphin Street for Boom Boom Room (formerly Red Dog's gay house music night).

you are right on the money..in order to develop a successfull learning experience (especially in language) there should be some kind of personal experience or teh experience in the classroom to be as close as possible to real live situations..
