ZOMBIE
Originally concieved as a rip-off of Romero's successful films, Zombie ended up surprising genre fans by being pretty damn good in it's own right. No one does gore like the italians and this has ladles of it. These are jungle zombies so there's really not much separating Zombie from your standard Italian cannibal movie. There's quite a lot of talking and the plot feels European and boring, but the gore and action are rewarding. There's an eye-piercing scene that's sure to set you squirming. ***
WILD WOMEN OF WONGO
This bizarre combination of native action jungle movie and really bad 60s comedy is entertaining in that it's unbelievably ill-conceived. The make-up and costumes look Halloween-ready. One tribe has ugly men and beautiful women. Another has ugly women and hunky fellas. Naturally this is going to cause some problems...for them...for you. *
WILD THINGS
This was a sleeper hit when it came out in theaters and deserves solid cult status because it's highly entertainig unapologetic trash. The convoluted double-crossing noir plot involves murder, a teacher accused of rape, lesbian make-outs, bi-sexual threesomes between students and teacher, cat fights, court scenes and best of all: Bill Murray. The sex scenes were pretty intense for an R-rated major studio release. Denise Richards supplies most of the nudity. Neve Campbell doesn't show anything. The credit sequence has some nice "post-script" moments that tie up loose ends. A special edition DVD was released several years after the initial DVD release and it's one special edition that actually provides extra sex and nudity in it's deleted scenes. ***

Ah yes your little Jem will be 26 soon. I can't believe it's been that long either. And damnit to hell I'm surprised I'VE been here that long as well. Don't think I haven't thought about it. And don't make me school you in the ways of punk!
