Okay, so that day's gone now. I think it's time to update and get rid of all that negativity which I'm sure is starting to wear thin.
Unfortunately, I don't really have a whole lot to report this time around... yesterday after work, I was supposed to help my roommate with the other two interior lights he was going to wire up, but by the time I got home, he had gotten bored already and did it all up himself. Which kinda sucks, 'cause I really wanted to help him with it. But no biggie.
So what did happen after work... well, my roommate had gone out somewhere by the time I got home... so I sat at the computer for what was likely a retarded amount of time. What's really sad is I couldn't even tell you what it was I was doing... but whatever it was, apparently it took a while to do!
Anyway at some point through the night, he finally got home and proceeded to regale me with the almost unbelievable story of some pilot he met at Timmy's who actually turned out to be cool!! Then he mentioned that he hasn't actually started his training yet.
That made a lot more sense... he hasn't been instructed on how to be a friggin' moron and an ass at all times yet. In any event, we apparently have a new friend! YAY!
Maybe now that this pilot has actually met some normal people (or at least, as normal as Air Traffic Controllers get...)*before* he started his training, it may just turn out that he'll come out of training with some shred of decency about him... though I'm not holding my breath.
Anyway! After this rather stunning conversation we sit in the living room for a bit, quietly whiling away some time, when my roommate looks to me and says, "I'm getting itchy!"
"Alright, fine! Where is it this time?"
"No, I mean I wanna go out somewhere. Like for a drink or somethin'."
This naturally brings a bewildered look to my face, as we both had to work today. However, I looked at him, and after a space of about 10 seconds said, "Yeah, why not?"
So we do. We finally decide to go out to karaokee (sp??? Stupid word). Unfortunately, the only karee...kara... sing-a-long-type-deally in town is at the "Rockin' Royal" *shudder*. Scummy, scummy place... BUT, he likes his ka... singing, so we go anyway.
Now, here's the sad part. The Royal is a rather decent sized bar... and when it's busy, it's REALLY busy. For instance, moving from the bar to one's seat is not only a half-hour affair, but the entire time, you feel like a line-backer playing in the fourth quarter: Bottle in close to the chest, Free hand straight out ahead, head down and PUSH!!!!!
However, last night... there were all of 18 people there... honestly, last night was the first time I realized they actually had carpet in there! So we're sitting there, and my roommie takes his little slip of paper with his song written on it up to the DJ... and hour and a half later of listening to some of the worst singers to plague the planet (all of whom were the DJ's friends, by the by), he still hasn't been called up... so we bugger off.
Now this is really funny! I get home from work today, and my roommate looks at me and says, "Screw this shit! I'm gonna drink EVERY night before I go to work, now!"
Turns out he had his best day of training since he got here! Who'da thunk, beer actually makes it easier to control multi-million dollar aircraft!
Now, how's THAT make you feel?
