Hello everyone!
I figured it was about time I really started sharing my passion of being in the kitchen with all my friends/followers here in SG land. Let's start with a little history.
Many of you know I became a mom at a VERY young age. I had to figure out a career and quick. I was waiting tables at 3 different places while trying to raise two babies at the tender age of 20. My dad and I were in the garage, having one of our famous smoke sesh bonding moments. I was helping him cook dinner, and he asked me "What do you want to do with your life now that you're a mom?" I really honestly didn't know the answer. (Who does at 20?) He said, "you always look happy in the kitchen with me. Especially when you're baking. Why don't you do that?" Now mind you, this was in 2006 before the Food Network exploded and the culinary scene was glorified into being something that it's not. I was in disbelief you could really make a living being a chef, yet alone a baker.
Well to jump a bit, my dad (my hero) enrolled me in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary school to get my associates of Restaurant Management and culinary Arts. I was sold on being a pastry chef, but finding steady work was difficult. I hopped around from the sweet side to savory. Really honed my skills as a line chef, and found some kitchens that would let me play as their pastry chef occasionally making breads and easy classic desserts.
This August marks my 10 year anniversary.
I just can't believe it.
I did stop cooking for about 2 years. Got burnt out, got tired of making shit money & working 12 hour days. The culinary world is no joke. Don't let Food Network fool you.
I am now the Head Pastry Chef for Google in San Francisco. I am creating their entire pastry program.
OK so let's get to the fun part of this boring ass blog of my life why don't we.
I have been asked multiple times to do videos of me in the kitchen. So it's gonna happen. I will start TODAY. I am making pear pie and vanilla ice cream, all from scratch. I will stream it on my snapchat ( @ chefcooky) If you want recipes or have questions/requests please email me cookysgh@gmail.com. ALSO if you want to be on my Friends list and get private snaps from me, that'll cost you a one time fee $25.
Thanks for joining me in the kitchen. I will only be posting when I'll be streaming on here. Love you all and thanks again
