Well, for one weekend I managed to get outside of the city and end up somewhere besides a place where I may find myself getting up early to work.
Instead of heading north-west, I optioned this now-past weekend for north-east...and wound up visiting a friend in Uxbridge, Ontario. There, I found myself during Friday evening and night at a friend of a friend's farm, enjoying a fixed-up and decked out old barn with a band, a disco ball, lots of booze, chili (meat and veg), corn (plus all kinds of other great food), plenty of bails of hay to sit on, a great bonfire and lots of good people. Hell! We were even dancing to P-Funk early into the morning!
It was a very good night. And the rest of the weekend was nothing to slouch at, either.
As Waylon Jennings once sang: "Are you ready for the country? Are you ready for me? Are you ready for the country? What a sight to see!"
How could I not be? Especially after seeing some great, countrified women wearing cowboy shirts and hats, and with smiles as captivating as a sunset or a rising moon, one does take life in the city into serious consideration for reappraisal. I like my city, but damn, I like my country too!
Giddyup!!!
