contrast

the ice storm.

its pretty fucking ill outside right now. thunder, lightning, billions of falling ice chunks that make loud noises when bouncing off the bill of your hat.

i was laying in bed this morning, i turned on my ipod. this track from "the art of happiness" by the dali lama came up... it must have been something i downloaded when looking for ebooks to listen to at work.

some of it was some bullshit, but the part i liked, that sounded good on a new years day, was something to the effect of:

every morning when you wake up, remind yourself to utilize the day towards positive results. at the end of the day, take a moment to see how well you accomplished that goal, and rejoice or regret as appropriate.


that's some simple hippy shit, but hard to remember or put into action. so many days seem wasted from just mindlessly going through the regular routines. some weeks, even.

i hope to be more productive this year, productive at the things i care about and are meaningful to me.

and i hope you have a generally happy year too.
