I can't believe the attitude of some men have towards women. I know this should be common knowledge (if there is such a thing), but I suppose my seclusion as of late has driven me to ignorance. I went to pick up my unicycle from the bicycle shop beside my work, and in the back repair area was a group of "dudes", most of which didn't work there, drunk and obnoxious as humanly possible. First they questioned my hair coloring, wondering if I was being patriotic. I told them that was far from the truth, and so it was the case then that I was gay, or so they said. They asked me if I was into dudes, and I said sometimes, to which ones replied: "That's fucking gross dude!" The next guy questioned my vegetarian motives given that I'm skinny as hell and lack "muscle." I've always preferred brains to muscle. His attitude was that you need muscle to get "bitches". In all I guess I forgot this attitude was still popular amongst some men that women are bitches meant to be racked up like trophies. I'm outstanded at how the freedom of others can be so horribly terrifying to some that one must make sure to eliminate any possibility that women, for instance, can dress sexy and have a girls night out completely vacant of any man. When I see a woman I see possibilities, and what makes such a being so beautiful is that those possibilities don't have to involve me. This is what seperates us from objects. This strikes fear into most men thinking that if their penis isn't at work then there's not much other reason to associate with women, or to do anyting else for that matter. Is reason such a tremendous threat to the "good" life? Where most guys enjoy getting women drunk, just to affirm their belief that all ladies want his cock, I find no greater pleasure in sitting down with a lady, with exquisite jazz playing in the background, and conversing over chess. Chess may not be appealing to some, but I find it to be a gateway to the mind. It alows someone to see that despite your own strategies, the Other is making assumptions on your moves while simultaneously trying to break your defenses. In total, chess is a game that aids you in confronting another's possibilities, and see how your own stack up against theirs. So very fascinating it is to lose.
