Hey you all,
It is beerfest week here in Portland! That means that last weekend was the Portland International Beer Festival, and this weekend is the Oregon Brewers Festival (OBF). The OBF will be held at waterfront park, starting on Thursday at noon, and will continue Friday (noon-10), Saturday (noon-10), and Sunday (noon-8). I for one plan on going at least Thursday and Friday, and may go on Saturday too. It sure would be great to see all the local SGs show up and strut their stuff. I just love seeing great body art in person, while I have a nice tall cool beer in my hand! LOL!
So here is the deal on the OBF. What you have to do is pay 20 dollars and you get a 12oz plastic mug, and 10 tokens. Each token is good for 4 oz of beer in your mug (some beers cost more), and most of the time the servers pour over the line a bit so you get around 4.5 oz. I like to find a mug left by someone that has left the fest (typically a friend), and wash it completely. Then I get two tasters of a beer I like and combine them, which will be around 10 oz of beer--for two bucks. This is a much better deal than the full glass price of 4 tokens to get a full glass, and saves plenty of money. The cost for the full glass is set at more than the sum of the parts to discourage drunkenness. So, I am telling you this to incourage drunkenness...Really what the heck is a Brewfest for, if not getting drunk? Oh and hooking up with other drunk people.
Hope to see you there.
