The man I worked for for seven years passed away at 65, today. I don't quite know how to feel, it's so sad, he'd fought the cancer and won. Two years later, it returned, and after all he'd already been through he lost the will to fight. He was a good man and my heart breaks for his family. I've known them all many years and know they will miss their father dearly.
At Ponzio's, he was the "scary" boss, he was a gruff Greek man with a thick accent and a short fuse. But the man had a heart of gold, he really was a great big teddy bear underneath it all. I'll never forget how good he was to Dimo and I, he helped us out of quite a few sticky situations.
I feel horribly for Dimo, he's known him all his life, he was kind of like a second father to him. It kills my poor baby that he can't be here for the funeral, I wish I could find some way to help him.
I've seen too many good people taken this year.
