Drink A Lot These Days:
Littered with empty bottles
Half dead soldiers.
Half empty, left with
the dregs.
With your mouth
You speak in rambles.
No gaps.
Your voice
fills the room.
It fills
the yellow walls
a taint
A sure fire
tell tale sign
You drink a lot
these days.
Mint:
On the stairs
I pass you
as you walk to work.
The cigarettes
on your breath
taste like sulfur
on my
fresh
brushed
teeth.

Book away for the 3rd to the 9th. That works better, I believe. My absent dates are June 23 & 24. Also; had the Mars Volta gig on the 19th in Sydney and Kimya Dawson on the 20th so would've been stretching things a bit thin. If you need airport assistance or any such thing you should let me know because as a newly crowned driver I'm all about hooning around town for no good reason. So, when there is a good reason I'm totally in.
I stand by that captivating comment about Rollins and would add sexy. I'm not gay but can appreciate why certain femme fatales would want to fuck a guy and be totally baffled when they wouldn't. It helps also that I'm hoping to follow in his (Rollins) footsteps as far as not burning out or mellowing out goes. A lot of people tend do be rather radical and then just go along with the norm, only ever keeping half a foot in extreme waters, if that. Also on the list of men I'd put on the fuckable and 'why don't people find him attractive list' list; David Cronenberg, Christian Bale, Cedric Bixler Zavala, Lucius Borich, Robert Downey Jr.
Alright, Rollins favourites; Talk is Cheap, Vol. 2, A Rollins in the Wry and Live at the Westbeth Theatre. Also notable are Think Tank (for the tracks 'Nothing Can Go Wrong' and 'No One is Fax Exempt') Talk is Cheap, Vol. 4 (for 'I Can't Get Behind That!'). Also; Talk is Cheap, Volumes 1 & 3. The first three Talk is Cheap recordings were done in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre so they've got a little more resonance as far as him briefly dropping in on local slang and politics are concerned. Bring a flash drive to Sydney and I'll fill it with his back catalogue, if you'd like. Furthermore, if this newly found interest in spoken word has triggered a taste for a little more then I'd like to point you in the direction of Patton Oswalt's comedy album Feelin' Kinda Patton. I fucking cried, he's that good. I'll make a note about hyping things up too much shortly.
Thursday's cigarette drowning occured at the Townie in Newtown (a fucking great watering hole) where there is an area on the ground level that has an open roof all the way to the sky. What else is it going to open to? Idiotic statement. None the less, you get the idea. So I'm sitting there and because we're two stories down and it's a still night there's no wind whipping about to piss the cigarette smoke off and away from my face. Also, probably didn't help I sat confined between a number of smokers. Fear not, if you're not a smoker we can sit in the trenches of the Townie's in door area and tear apart space and time with language.
RE: Your topical Rollins quote. Your recent blogs (at least concerning love and loss etc.) have been fairly indecipherable, at least for those of us that don't know you. That includes me. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that you're hurting because of the love thing. I can sympathise. Or empathise. I'm not sure. I'm in the same boat at the moment if you're in the position I'm thinking you're in. I can't commit friendship hari kiri until my contract on this film is done though because I just don't have the energy to deal with 'no' at the moment. So I have to wait and prepare myself over the next six weeks. I feel like the answer I'm not looking for is inevitable but I'm chasing it because it's taking up a lot of my soul and my thought and I want to cut this fucking tumour out.
Back to hyping things up. I'm not sure about this infamy thing. I'd just say be prepared to deal with loudness. i'm not a hangover's best friend so if you've got one steer clear. Also be prepared to be bombarded with disgusting amounts of music and movie references and a whole lot of grog consumption. Anything specific you want to get up to whilst in Sydney town? I've got nothing to recommend. I just think it's a good base and there are some good people and resources here (for me, at least) that I'm a big fan of.
