SPOILERS! (Click to view)There is no pure freedom. Even in escapism, rebellion or disregard, we are still moving against power. Power exists as the benchmark to move away from, from which one can therefore only measure the increments of awayness that one has moved. I thought a loophole could be a mentally ill person, unaware of the how or why of that which they are moving within or against, and in 'my' perspective I feel that they are thus exempt from the meaning of power and can therefore move around power. But, even those who are not conscious of power are still existing from within that system of power, whether they recognize it or not. One still breathes while they are asleep. ALL relies on culture. ALL is from/within/isolated against power. To think is to be informed by a discourse. But, what of those unlinked to human discourses - are indiscoverable deep-sea fish free from the discourse(s) of power? Are they therefore 'free'? They of course have their own discourse(s) of power. There are limits in their existence. Limits control by ... dimensions?
This is not to say that power is a total, unmaneuverable force. Power as a complete 'space' that can be totalized is inherently faulty. There are no universal limits. There are always overflow, bleeds. Even in the binary of power and freedom, one informs and creates the other, they are connected and therefore freedom cannot exist. Freedom is an absolute, you can't be 'mostly free.' But freedom is inflicted upon by power at all times and therefore contradicts itself into nonexistence. The concept can still exist though, let's not count that out. Power, on the other hand, CAN exist without freedom, it is a measurable force, flexible and describable. But it cannot be totalized, or closed and is therefore also, well, I was going to subreal, but really I think it's just annoying.
The problem is our system of thought. Definitions and absolutes, solving puzzles ... there are contradictions in reality. How are there limits to our thoughts? I hate that there are limits to our thoughts.
The solution perhaps, then, is the awareness and consideration of the limitations of human thoughts; it is to reach an objective view about your own subjectivity. Really though there is no such thing as pure objectivity, but, that said, it is a comprehendable idea that we can use to come closer to understanding.
