I've just seen Sweeny Todd.
No spoilers here, don't worry.
It's just ... you know how Tim Burton massacred Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, though still managed to come out the other side with an awesome film entirely removed from the original?
Well, this isn't as bad as that.
But it came close.
Awesome movie ... but for any musical buffs out there, be warned ... HE LEFT OUT THE FUCKING THEME SONG!
I've included a copy of it here, so that if, like me, you had searched for hours unsuccessfully to locate a copy or you just feel like seeing what you were missing out on in the adaption from stage to screenplay, you now can.
Annoyingly any search anywhere for any key words relating to the movie - sweeney, todd, demon, barber, fleet, street, musical - results in an image of Jonnhy Depp, making the following YouTube expert very hard to find.
All the same, for my eternal enjoyment (or at least until they close my SG account and I lose all of my blogs, or, on the other hand, YouTube folds due to copyright infringements,) here be a version of the missing ballad.
And for the seriously die-hard fans out there that want to read up on all the leaves-outs between the screen adaption and the original script, here's a copy of the original stage script.
Other than that, it was fine.
