Arielle mailed me Sufjan Steven's "Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lakes Sate." Which, unsurprisingly, is really great. It's lighthearted and beautiful, unassuming and simple at times, but on songs like "Detroit, Lift Up Your Weary Head! (Rebuild! Restore! Reconsider!)" there's a complexity that lets the confidence of the band really shine through.
This album will find its way into your heart if you have any kind of soft spot for the quiet, happy kids that just like to laugh and sing. If you don't, go to hell you heartless bastard.
