Finally got my hands on a copy of M83's "Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts." And it really is everything the Pitchfork review made it out to be. A great mix of Godspeed, Mogwai, and (vaguely Underworldish) electronics. It's very dramatic, but delivers on its promise to be affecting. I highly recommend it.
In other news, I've been listening to Broken Social Scene's "You Forgot It In People" obsessively since I saw them at Coachella and I've decided that Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is almost the cinematic equivalent of that album. They both seem to set forth to convey the same kind of "love above all, even that weird love you sometimes don't want to think about" in a similarly pop/art house way. That's probably why they both make me miss old lovers in some strangely satisfying way.
