Ah ha... A blank page!
Isn't running great? A bizarre thing to say possibly, and certainly not something i ever expected to say. But lack of funds for a gym membership has led me down new and unusual paths. So i got hold of our singers weights bench and decided to start running after work as there is a very handy park right next to the flat. That was great for a couple of weeks til i went out one night 2 weeks ago looked into the park and could see precisely fuck all, no lights nothing, just a foetid lake and some sinister rustlings in the bushes. So common sense prevailed and i decided to explore the ripe underbelly of Cheltenham instead. It's been great! i love just moving, concentrating just enough on where i'm going not to fall over, my mind free to play with all the things that weigh heavy upon it, round every corner something new to catch my eye, to inspire me.
I have a problem with David Bellamy! again, not something i ever thought i'd say, but i really must take issue with him over this.
I read in the local paper yesterday that he, along with the residents of some little backwater cotswold village are protesting about a proposed wind farm on top of one of the hills round here. Mr Bellamy has even gone as far as to call it 'an act of vandalism'.
Now, i'm perfectly aware that the cotswolds are a very beautiful area and by and large of course i support the maintenance of the countryside, but first of all, two windmills does not a wind farm make, and secondly, after reading the other day that this planets oil reserves are estimated (conservatively) to run out in 30 years (30 years!! christ i still plan to be alive then!) i really think we ought to be taking steps to ensure that we don't end up living through 'Mad Max' or at best 1960's Cuba. Our dependence on oil really is frightening, actually it's insane, it leaves us at the mercy of whatever political whims are in favour that week, it costs us an absolute fortune and not only is it non-renewable it actually makes things worse when it is used!
Even scarier than that is the fact that we, as a race are no longer inventing or innovating at the same rate as we once were, apparently the peak of human ingenuity was 1870 or something, since then we have declined into a self indulgent, festering parasite of a race. I mean we've known how cancer works since 1960, yet we're no closer to finding a cure. The first supersonic flight was at the end of the 50's ish, by the end of the 60's man had walked on the moon, by the end of the 70's the space shuttle was working. And since then.... nothing, they're still trying not to kill people while they send them xthousand miles away in a vehicle designed before i was born!
The only thing that has developed is communication, and to be fair that is one thing that really needed to develop. However i can't be fucked to get into that now, i'm going to blockbuster.
PS i'm going to South Africa on sunday!!!!
Oww.... i fell off a traffic light, i can't use my left arm, it hurts!
