whew well I am back from my trip, I know I said I was gonna post from Ann Arbor, but given time constrains not to mention much needed sleep from 2 days on the bus going their and the fact that they were recording audio and video for the conference and thus asked that no other recording take place, the neccessity of posting from ann arbor was quite low on my priority list.
Additionaly I have an excuse to get rid of my "portable" internet from rogers as it did not work in any major city in western canada, not even Winnipeg which I was certain it should have worked in.
At any rate here are my thoughts so far on my trip:
MooseJaw is the best bus stop as their is a bar right by their which served guiness no les and the fact that the stint between Calgary and regina feels the longest.
The greyhound bus-station bathroom capacity of Swift Current and Chicago are equivalent while the population centers (20,000 to 2 milion) certainly are not!
in fact the state of buses in the U.S are horrible, not a single bus going back had the lock on the bathroom work and the bathrooms were usually quite filthy and without a way to clean your hands.
their really seems to be a war against women in nort dakota and northern Minnesota as 2 out of 3 large billboard signs were pro life that litterally said : what?; foetesus are babies!.
It was really nice weather and to my shock their was actually grass growing in Michigan not to mention leaves on some bushes, I was expecting quite the opposite given its proximate location to Ontario and a black lady espousing her hatred of Michigan on the way their.
I had fogrotten to do a thurough cleaning of my backpack and when I went to the american border, they were suspicious I imagine that I was some sort of trafficer given I was gonna be on the bus longer then my stay in the u.s so they found a whole bunch of protest pamphlets that I have collected over the last little while, which ment talking to guards about politics in canada as they tried to assertain what I was doing on my trip....
Despite all the literature available on the SEP from former members, my hypothesis was confirmed from this conference that the SEP is not a political cult and in fact a large percentage of the time in the conference was to let the floor ask questions or pass amendments to the resolution.
Unfortunetly my laptop doesnt last very long with the monitor on so I couldnt reaserch better on the documents I received prior to this trip (though admittedly I should have been doing this before the bus ride, more work to be done against my bad scholastic habits).
It was an overall good time, but I am really glad to be home!!!
