I recently turned down a job offer for a position that I would have loved to have had. Why did I turn it down? I have problems leaving friends/family right now.
The Cake:
Teaching English to children in Xi'an, China
The Icing:
- Paid airfare there, and a plane ticket home upon completion of the contract.
- 5500 RMB/mo (6500 upon contract renewal) tax free (this is roughly $800 CDN)
- Comprehensive medical insurance
- Fully furnished apartment
- Free Chinese lessons (no idea which dialect)
- Assistance in setting up my work visa, etc.
Oh man... I wish I had a Tubby Dog to comfort me.
Furthermore, some fucker just tried to con me. I was selling a guitar (1972 Tele Thinline Reissue. Interested?) and he was buying. He sent me a money order from Western Union for $3500 USD (I was asking $750 CDN). RED LIGHT. Then he insisted I cash the MO, take shipping costs out of it, and send him the remaining amount plus the guitar, today. Fucker.
